Amit Friedman

A leading saxophone player and composer in Israel, Amit Friedman performs and records regularly with prominent local and international artists. Amit has collaborated with some of Israel's top pop musicians and played for three years on the successful show "Tonight with Lior Schlein", of which he was also musical director. Amit's music is faithful to the jazz tradition while integrating elements of world and Middle Eastern music.  His catchy compositions combine simplicity with sophistication and communicate with a broad and varied audience. Amit's first album "Sunrise", released on the American label Origin Records, was widely played and received enthusiastic reviews in the US and Israel. The album was ranked high on jazz album lists in leading jazz magazines in the US, and was the bestselling Israeli jazz album in music stores in 2012. His second album, "Long Way to Go", features Chilean-American singer Claudia Acuna and Israeli artists Ravid Kahalni (Yemen Blues) and Tamar Eisenman. Alongside his career as composer and arranger, Amit is an educator who strives to advance Jazz among young people in Israel.
